The American government has no fucking clue how to handle food. In addition to this bullshit, we subsidize american farming only to allow this food to be sent overseas at the reduced rates, and we are driving up FOOD INFLATION by REQUIRING corn-derived ethanol be put in the gasoline. Hundreds of thousands of people die each year DIRECTLY DUE TO STUPID LAWS REQUIRING ETHANOL TO BE PUT IN OUR GASOLINE, a process which actually generates more pollution that using straight gas.
One of the shittiest things about the government showing all this preference to Big Pharma (through legislation) is that many safe and effective consumables are effectively banned. People realize that just because something banned doesn’t mean anything about it’s efficacy or safety, so they open themselves up to be victims of quackery and financial predation.
The pervasiveness of corruption throughout all levels of government scares the shit out of me. Money is God.

Codex Alimentarius was signed into law by Obama on June 10th. Look it up. It’s called “Executive Order– Establishing the National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council”. Here’s an excerpt:
